Well, we've made it through almost a whole month in the new year! Can you believe how fast time flies? It seems like only yesterday that I was starting up these interviews and learning more and more about my fellow Indie authors. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them, and I hope you have too.

My next interview is with another fellow author of the Christian fiction genre that I write in. I was super excited to be able to talk with her. Read her interview below.

AJ: What’s your name and a little about your background that led you to be a writer?

RM: Robin Merrill. I can't ever remember not wanting to be a writer. When I was in third grade, I hand-wrote a seventeen-page story about meeting Amy Grant. (My poor teacher!)

AJ: How many books have you written? And, in what genre would you classify your works?

RM: 19 and two in the oven! I have written children's books, Christian fiction, cozy mysteries, devotionals, and poetry.

AJ: What inspired you to write your first book?

RM: My first books were poetry collections and I think I just wanted to feel validated. I moved into fiction just for fun, really.

AJ: What was your favorite book to write and why?

RM: That's like asking me which of my children is my favorite! They're all my favorites! Right now I'm especially fond of the one that is about to launch: a Christian fiction novel called "Windmills".

AJ: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

RM: I love to read. I love hanging out with my kids. I love to perform my work and to share my love of creative writing through workshops.

AJ: Do you see writing as a career? Or, is this just a hobby?

RM: I'm hesitant to say "career" as it makes me feel like an impostor. But it's definitely more than a hobby. I would say it is a passion, and I'm incredibly grateful that my passion pays my bills.

AJ: Is there one event in your life that led you in the direction of writing for your genre?

RM: I love Jesus, and I love stories, so Christian fiction was a natural fit, though I don't fit perfectly in that category at times, because my books often look at difficult real world subject matter. As for mysteries, I have always loved mystery books and television shows--maybe even a bit too much. My love for poetry is a mystery itself--it's just always been there. It's part of what makes me, me.

AJ: Who, or what, inspires your writing?

RM: I find people fascinating and I just love to observe them and write about them. I'm also always trying to write for my mom. She's my first reader and I'm always trying to impress her, make her laugh, make her proud.

AJ: What social media outlets do you use to reach your readers? And, which ones have you found to be the most successful?

RM: I'm on Facebook and Twitter, and I enjoy both of those media, but I'm not sure either is successful. Haha! I'm kind of a marketing flunky. Here are the links.
