I read this book in about a day and a half, and let me admit to you that just reading the introduction made me want to weep.

 

Roma Downey is best known for her role as Monica, the angel, on the wildly popular series Touched By an Angel.. In fact, up until that time, I had no idea who she was. However, since this was one of the few shows that my family and I could sit down and watch together, without the aid of TV Guardian, we gathered around our TV every Sunday night, anxiously awaiting the show's theme song to ring through the house. If I close my eyes, I can still hear Della Reese's voice singing out, "When you walk down the road, heavy burden, heavy load.."

More recently, she and her husband, producer, Mark Burnett, have worked with Operation Smile, made the Bible into a television series, and written this wonderful book.

Box of Butterflies was given to me by my mother, who had read it first, and recommended it to me. When I read the intro, I nearly cried, so I knew this would be a book that would make my "Recommended Reads" list. That wasn't the last time I would cry while reading this, and I'm not a big cryer. But, this book touched my heart in so many ways, and I will always be grateful to my mom for lending me her copy.
